CALGARY, Alberta (LifeSiteNews) — An audio recording was posted to social media last week of a Calgary police officer telling a Canadian Muslim man organizing protests against LBGT indoctrination in schools that the white Canadians protesting alongside him secretly “hate Muslims” and are “white supremacists.”

In the audio recording, published August 3, Calgary Police Service officer Matt Messenger can be heard telling Mahmoud Mourra, the organizer of Muslim-led protests against the LBGT agenda being taught in schools, that white Canadians and supporters of the Freedom Convoy are “white supremacists” and will “turn their back to you.”

“This policeman blames and accuses the white people and Freedom Central of being troublemakers and racists,” Mourra wrote on a Facebook post. “Pay attention to his ‘advice’ when he promotes hate and division in our society, and how he threatens us.”

In the recording, Messenger is heard saying, “They [white and pro-freedom Canadians] hate Muslims, but they also hate the LGBTQ community.”

“Whereas two weeks from now, when this is dealt with, it’ll be the Muslims versus the white supremacists, because that’s what it is,” he added. “They’ll turn their back to you guys and your community.”

“The best thing you guys can do in your community is just stay away from them,” Messenger advised.

According to Mourra, the officer works in the Calgary Hate Crime unit and is the same officer who charged him with criminal harassment for protesting LGBT ideology in schools.

Mourra condemned the officer for his statements saying, “He threatened me and my community to stay away from the LGBTQ community, even though I told him we will walk away from the LGBTQ counter-protest if they come to our protest.”

“There are many live samples [in] front of us, like PM Justin Trudeau and this police officer and how they promote division, when they are the people who are supposed to fight for unity,” Mourra lamented.

“Sadly our country is going down, my intention was to protect our kids, I have no hate toward anyone, but some people like to play the victim card,” he added.

The Calgary Police Service recently told Rebel News that the recording was taken out of context.

“The audio in this video was taken from a much longer conversation between Mourra and a member of the CPS,” they said. “It is a mischaracterization of the intent and content of the conversation. Both the officer speaking and the CPS recognizes that not all members of the freedom groups are white supremacists.”

“These excerpts were taken from a conversation on how we can find solutions for communities to come together and decrease the anger and hostility we have seen in recent weeks at community events,” the police continued. “We maintain that we police behaviors and not beliefs, and we continue to work to bring peaceful solutions for both the right to protest and the right to feel safe in our city.”

Jack Fonseca of Campaign Life Coalition told LifeSiteNews the officer’s behavior “was politics, not policing. He slandered peaceful freedom convoy protestors – many of them Christians – and tried to stoke hatred and fear between different groups of Canadians.”

Fonseca declared that Messenger’s acts “are all the more egregious given that this officer is allegedly part of the “Hate Crimes Unit’. Rather than preventing acts of hate, this reckless cop is trying to create hatred where none exists, in order to satisfy his personal politics.”

“Calgarians should file complaints against him and demand he lose his badge immediately,” he urged.

“Freedom convoy supporters, many if not most of them, Christians, who’ve been locking arms with our Muslim brothers and sisters at these parental protests are not ‘white supremacists’ by any stretch of the imagination,” Fonseca charged. “Many of them are not even white, for heaven’s sake!”

Fonseca pointed out that the officer lacks evidence of pro-freedom Canadians being white supremacists or hating Muslims.

“The very fact that they’re locking arms in solidarity with Muslims against transgender ideology, is strong evidence to support the opposite conclusion – that they have no animus towards Muslims,” he added.

“I would like to let our Muslim brothers and sisters know that many Christians stand with them in this common battle to protect not only our parental rights, but to defend our innocent children from the evil, harmful and dangerous influence of LGBT ideology,” he stated.

“We stand with you in telling Justin Trudeau and his hordes of indoctrinators in the public education system: ‘Leave our kids alone!'” Fonseca encouraged.

Messenger is not the first to attempt to dissuade Muslims from joining forces with Christian and pro-freedom Canadians to stop the LGBT indoctrination of children.

Recently, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, instead of addressing the concerns of parents, lectured Muslims on participating in these pro-family events, claiming that the protests are “fueled by the American right-wing.”

Trudeau then claimed that online material is “being weaponized by people who are not doing it because of their interest in supporting the Muslim community.”

Earlier this year, a leaked audio recording of Canadian teacher lambasting her Muslim students for missing school to protest “pride” sparked backlash across social media. Many were outraged that the teacher implied that students cannot withhold support for “pride” and be “Canadian.”
